Simply and beautiful… Just to say, that here in Europe Croatia we practice and spreding Cheng Man Ch’ing 37 and all his legacy…
Stay relaxed =;)…
In my journey to learn this great art I have had to invest in loss many times and still am learning to “invest in lost” as Master Chen would say. I have a Linage that leads straight to Him. When I first started out I was learning Chen style from a fellow player and one day I visited a yang style class and have been a advocate ever since. My first yang instructor who taught me this style Beverly Keller learned from Master instructor Waysun Liao who also was taught by Master Chen. My foundation is in temple style training which to many may seem long and tedious but this has held fast for me. My second Teacher of the yang style was GrandMaster Hsu Fun Yuen who still teaches today. I now learn under Frank Nava and Ray Bemis two of Master Hsu students and excellent instructors. I would not trade it now for anything. I have strayed away several times but the chi keeps calling me back it has given me health beyond my wildest dreams and I will continue for my life time to practice this grand ultimate meditation and martial application.
Cheng Man Ching has inspired me to recover from a severe illness through the practice of Tai Chi.My deepest thanks goes out to those who have honoured his life by keeping professors spirit alive. His inspiration saved my life.
Awsome Web Site
great site . . . love everything that came from cmc!

Excellent.
The beauty of thinking, teaching, and presenting are extremely impressive. The integration of eastern philosophy and western technology into a beautiful website is a reflection of human intelligence.
Congratulation.
This new release of Cheng man ch’ing’s T’ai Chi is a truely extraordinary and wonderful thing. As a long-time practictioner this feels like an oasis in the desert! Thanks to everyone involved and I hope to see more one day.
my senoir & myself had a visit with each other tonight. his kids gave hime robert smith’s book martial musings…
GM.Cheng’s book was what i studied for maybe a few years I’ll say approx. 15 in a very limited way.
i really regret not doing more way back then now. the 1 inch making you miss by 1,000 miles was the reson i di not.
when i actually joined The Tai Chi Study Assoc. in the summer of 1995 My teacher would ask me if i had already learned Taijiquan a few times. I told him no , but i had studied a bit from GM. Chengs books.
needless to say they gave me a huge advantage in learning Yang Style Taijiquan as taught by Dr. John Wan-Yuin Chang’s various teachers of which there were 5 . i learned mainly from 3 of them.
John Oden gave me detailed info on our form & Abduhl Muhissy taught me my basic frame. John had
studied with Robert Smith in Bethesda Md. before meeting & learning from Dr. Chang.
I’ll surprise John this YEAR HOPEFULLY WITH A SET OF THESE DVD’S and I know he will be tickled pink.
We used to play tui shou at Robert Frost Middle School. The push hands events were sponsored by Sifu David Chen & Sifu Julian ( can’t recall his last name, though he’s Chinese and his kung fu was 1st rate from what I witnessed . Regretfully I didn’t get a chance to play with him ; yet was able to pick up some nice pointers just by watching how he neutralized his opponents.
i did play tui shou with Sifu Chen a long time Cheng Stylist and learned 1st hand why he was a good Sifu .
his many students always seemed to show marked progress from the last ocassion when when played tui shou together.
I learned 1st hand that the PREFESSOR’S taijiquan was alive, well, and legit too. As soft as they were they defintely felt anything but weak !
Hopefully I’ll be able to go back there to enjoy their kung fu and hospitality which were both in abundance.
p.s. Suifu Chen has returned to Wu Qi as many may already know , but won’t beforgotten by me or the lives( there were many ) he touched.
All the tai ji quan teachers I have known beginning in 1980, have studied with the Professor...William C.C. Chen, Margaret Stevens, and Yu, Cheng-Hsiang.
I remember watching 8mm films of the Professor at a tai ji semiar in Hawaii back in the early 80’s.
Finding some of those film clips on UTube was a joy...finding this site is pure HEAVEN!
p.s. someone commented on one of the UTube clips, “who is this guy?? what a losey form he has!!”
I am privledged to be able to learn from the motion and words of The Professor. Thank you for that opportunity.
I was surfing one day and came upon this very wonderful site. I began practing Tai Chi (late 90’s)in the Metro Detroit area with a wonderful instructor. Carol Yamasaki turned on the light of Tai Chi for me and it’s burned brightly ever since
Hi, greetings from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I started Cheng’s tai chi almost 10 years ago and am glad that there is a site that is connected to the Professor’s teaching! However, I believe that there is still much more that the site could provide, like more articles esp. from former students, that can enlighten us. Further, I also hope that this site can be a focus site to collaborate or to start a worldwide chapter on Cheng’s tai chi.I would be most happy to contribute in any way that I can for the value that Cheng’s teachings and tai chi have contributed to an innermost sense of contentment and well being!
Thanks

What a pleasure to see this site! What a pleasure to see photos of Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing (Zheng Manqing), my late teacher! He was a most remarkable individual! I look forward to the “Master Tapes” DVDs; to seeing the Professor in action once again; to seeing my tongxuemen, now as gray as I am, at the apices of their youth once again. Those were remarkable times, and I am certain that the visual record of the New York Shr Jung (Shi Zhong) school will prove to be remarkable, too.

Hello
My name is Allen Hsu. I am from Taiwan and live in New York for studying architecture. My father is an apprentice of Liou, Shi-Heng (劉錫亨) who is Cheng, Man-Ching`s apprentice. My father also arduously teaches and popularizes Tai Chi in Taiwan and China.
I want to buy the DvD of the Master Tapes for my father, however, it was sold out. We wonder whether there is any DVD of the Master Tapes available. We don`t mind the second hand DVDs,If anyone has extra DVD to sell, please tell me. Also, if it is unavailable right now, could you please notify me when you get new dvds in stock?
I would be grateful for your any response.
sincerely
Allen Hsu
Never having been privilaged to see the professor in motion, i eagerly await the arrival of these dvd’s. If a picture is worth a 1000 words, then these tapes must be worth millions !!!!
It’s a masterpiece. A worthy tribute.
Thank you
I am very happy to see this site. Professor Cheng Man Ching was a the major influence in the Tai Chi Chuan of Malaysia in my young days through the efforts of his senior students Yap Siu Ting (Yue Shu Ting) and Huang Shing Shyan. I converted to Cheng Man Ching Style in 1970 or so and am still a follower after 37 years! As per Malaysian Cheng Man Ching ‘standard’, we practised the 37 Posture Cheng Man Ching Form and the supplementary 18 Lower Hands created by Yap Siu Ting. In addition, we also practised the so-called 108 long form, San Shou, sabre and sword. I currently practise only the 37 and 108 form regularly.
I am happy to see that our CMC tradition has made a comeback to popularity after many years of neglect. CMC Tai Chi Chuan is very special. I have mixed and learnt other traditions of Tai Chi Chuan but CMC stands out as the ideal and closest to the Tai Chi Clasics.
I hope in future, we can organise yearly CMC world conference and camp where all CMC groups can come together to discuss and experiment and grow together. Come on! Somebody can organise this! Start the ball rolling. Choose Taiwan or a resort somewhere.
Warmest regards,
John Chow

i practice the 108, and the professor’s philosophy on the art has helped me advance personally. his info is at the heart of tai chi when he said the goal of tai chi is to cultivate chi.
What an amazing site. Finally there is now a site dedicated to this great man and his wonderful arts. I look forward in seeing the site grow and watching the master tapes that are a treasure to the many taiji practitioners around the world. I thank you for bringing this to everyone to share.
My name is Jose, I live in Lisbon, Portugal, where I practice Cheng Man Ching Tai Chi since 1990, in a school connected to Mr. Don Ahn of New York. Mr. Don Ahn was one of New York Cheng Man Ching Tai Chi school students in late 60’s.
At Last, after several years of blackout, the official Cheng Man Ching site is back. I hope that it will be a connection between Cheng Man Ching students community and help to clarify his cultural heritage, epecially his tai chi teachings.
I suppose the site is connected to Mrs. Katty and Hellen Cheng, that I met on July 2006 on III European Cheng Man Ching forum in Italy. Where I bought them her father’s vhs videotape. Since then I’ve been trying to contact them, without success, to know about the films that they show to us on the forum. Here they are, at last.
Congratulations!
Hear you soon.
Jose
The website is beautiful as well as Chengs’ wonderful Chinese paintings.
I have come to T’ai Chi and the Professor just in the last year; well into my fifties. I’ve been VERY grateful that, not by any design of my own, I ‘stumbled’ upon a local teacher who just ‘happened’ to be of the CMC lineage.
Thank you Fernando, Don and whoever else has contributed to this site—WONDERFUL!
I want to start the New Year by saying “Thank You” Fernando, for resurrecting the website! I’m looking forward to reading new information and learning more about Prof. Cheng. The “Master Tapes” are also a treasure! Please give my gratitude to Mr. Gutstadt, Don and the Cheng family for sharing these with us!
It was a sheer joy to see video of Professor Zheng doing the solo form as well as the sword set.
As a longtime student and teacher of Professor Cheng’s T’ai Chi, starting at the Shr Jung school over 30 years ago, I’m delighted to see a comprehensive website devoted to this great man and teacher. I eagerly anticipate its further development.
Thank you ever so much for promoting the memory of Professor Cheng and his great works. Those of us who struggle to follow in his way treasure any glimpse of memory we may hold from the past. The look and feel of the site honors Professor Cheng and I pray that those with the eyes and spirit to see will, at least in some small way, receive a hint as to how profound and complete this man was in his heavenly calling and earthly life.
